Abiding in His Guiding

Finding Our Way Home to God

Introduction

We all get lost sometimes, perhaps more than we care to admit. Recently I have been reminded that, even though we may feel lost, we never truly are. For there is someone much greater, who knows exactly where you are. He has divinely woven every step into your journey, even the ones you end up on by mistake. When you feel like a ship without an anchor, you can find peace by abiding in His guiding.

There is One

There is one who calls you His own, and beckons you back to Himself. There is one whose love is relentless. No matter how far off the path you have gone, it is never too far for Him to reach you. Imagine that kind of love. Sometimes I doubt this love, but God reminds me of just how tender His heart is for us. I’m not sure why we doubt His love and goodness, run from Him, and fight surrendering our lives. Perhaps we don’t feel worthy of His love. But praise God, He calls us His children, and will always choose us even if we do not believe it.

Beautiful God

I know such a beautiful God! I hope you are abiding in Him too. If you do not, try saying hello; I promise He is listening. The most beautiful part is that He knows us already. He knows me fully and completely–all of my mistakes, my pride, and my fears–and yet He still chooses me and calls me His child.

He chooses me again, and again, even when I don’t choose Him. Can you imagine that kind of love? I could not have imagined this before I knew Jesus, and although I lost sight of Him for a while, He never lost sight of me. He has been right by my side the entire time, and He always will be; all we have to do is look for Him, and seek Him with our whole hearts.

When You Feel Lost

If you are feeling lost, don’t worry, because we are never truly lost. Abide in Christ, and He will give you rest, peace, and restoration. He will fill your heart again with joy and speak truth into your life again. He calls us friend, child, beloved. My heart sings with joy and thankfulness for God and a Savior who is my assurance and confidence through all of life’s storms.

Abide in me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.

Conclusion

Even when you feel lost or unworthy, remember that God knows you, and will never stop choosing you. He is a beautiful God full of love and goodness. When you surrender to Him and abide in His guiding, you will find the peace and love you long for. How can you abide in God today? Is it spending five minutes in prayer? Or maybe singing a worship song to Him?
