A Winding Road

Introduction

A Winding Road is an anthology of poems telling the story of a person journeying the winding road of love. This is the collection’s first poem. We meet our traveler amid their journey. Yet, their journey is about to change as we realize they are not the sole traveler.

My inspiration for this collection came from my time spent hiking. I am an outdoor enthusiast and an avid hiker. Since I was a boy, I have loved taking pictures during my outdoor adventures. Check out my photography on the gallery page and by following me on Instagram. While navigating my story, I found experiences on the trail mirrored those of life and love. There are mountain peaks and valleys along the road. You experience sunny days, stormy weather, day, and night. Sometimes you stop and stay in one place, and other times you travel. You often feel lost, but after reflecting quietly, the path becomes clear.

A Winding Road

Love is like a winding road,
and I’m a traveler without a home.

The roads I walked were filled with pain.
I never knew if I would love the same.

I heard your song, a whisper in the dark.
It stole the night, awoke my sleeping heart.

I look for you around every bend.
You said your heart needs time to mend.

No matter where our roads may end,
know I’m happy to call you friend.

So down unquiet roads my soul embarks.
I pray that God will guide my restless heart.

Whether this road brings joy or pain,
still, my savior’s love remains.

For love is like a winding road,
and I’m a traveler, but never alone.

Wrap-up

Life fills us with both joy and pain, which can leave us feeling restless or alone. God never promises us life will not have trials. But he promises us we will never be alone and invites us to abide in him.
