The Resurrected Gardener — A poem of growth
Introduction
We come to the final chapter in our travelers journey, for now. He began wandering alone on this winding road. The hope of love sang to him. His road brought him into the city of darkness. With the Shepard beside him and inspired by the melody of love, lost boys were discovered, and the city was revitalized. As he set out from the city, the journey was hard. The storms and forks in the road tested his endurance, but through God’s strength, he chose love. Now, the Resurrected Gardener continues his work in him so that one day his garden will flourish, and the primrose will be his prized possession.
The Resurrected Gardener
He pulls up from the roots and casts into the fire.
He cuts down to the vine every lustful desire.
Once, I was withered and barren in the darkest valley alone.
Now as strong as the Tabor oak, His mountain garden my home.
The enemy fears the man I’ve become.
The darkness tries to pull me down.
His work through me has just begun.
My Savior has given me a crown.
I will sing of His love. I will proclaim His glory.
His name will be praised through the pages of my story.
Wrap-up
God is good. Jesus tells us that God is a good father who delights in giving good gifts to his children (Matthew 7:9). It’s hard to perceive and feel God’s goodness amidst life’s trials. Often, we are responsible for our own hardships, from things like poor financial decisions, or selfishness in relationships. At times, we face trials like losing a job or a loved one. In these times, it can feel like God is punishing us.
No matter the reason for our struggles, scripture assures us that God can use everything for his glory and the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). This doesn’t mean God causes bad things to happen to you; I, for one, can screw up my life without God’s help. It means God can use anything that has happened in our lives to grow us, strengthen us, and make us more like him. He will also use us to encourage others who are going through similar trials.
Regardless of your current trials, know that God is good. He can use this for good, and you can take part.
