Waypoint — A poem of new beginnings
Introduction
The traveler left the city of darkness and continued his winding road. The road remains filled with the same storms and hardships. Through the gale, the traveler looks for a sign that he is making progress. He looks for a waypoint to guide him on.
Waypoint
I find footsteps made slow by the stumbling storm,
unaware of the way I should go on this road heaven-born.
So I look to your map in my search for the Way
to be sure that the path which I take will not lead me astray.
At the height of my doubt, I can see it ahead
There’s a sign at a fork in the road just around the next bend
But this waypoint is not where the journey will end.
It’s a fork in the road where another redemption begins.
Wrap-up
Sometimes our decisions reveal the state of our heart. Past choices may have caused pain for us or others. We can never go back and undo the pain we cause, but hopefully, we learn from our mistakes.
We see redemption in action when we face a situation that allows us to honor God with our choice rather than make the same mistake. Though growth makes the path seem clear, reflection reminds us how far we’ve come. In these moments, praise God for the work he is doing in you, and be encouraged.
In the opening of his letter, James tells us to be joyful when we face trials. How can that be? It seems paradoxical to be happy in hardship. He tells us the testing of our faith results in maturity. As we grow, we understand trials are an opportunity to learn. As Christians, we do our best to honor God with our actions. If we make a mistake, God is faithful to forgive us and deserves our worship. If we make a correct decision, then we praise him for the wisdom and maturity he has given us. The result is the same: God is glorified.
